Happy New Year!
Two important dates to remember:
January 10 Pizza and Pages. One of the strangest books you’ll ever read (and watch!) is Patrick Carman’s Skeleton Creek: to read it you have to have a computer with an internet connection!! Come prepared to discuss the mystery and nosh on tasty pizza from Blake’s. (Don’t forget to register at least one day in advance by signing up in the LRC now for this event!!)
January 19th Open Mic. Sign up now in the LRC for our next Open Mic. We are looking for students who want to share poetry, short stories, book talk favorite books or tell your favorite jokes! You can play band instruments, keyboards, or perform your own musical group/band. Sign up now in the LRC!!
NEW in the LRC! We have a new web-based library computer system called Destiny. Stay tuned for more details about accessing TMS resources online!
January Projects in the LRC: This month the library is busying collaborating with classroom teachers on e-projects including teaching others about safety tips for a variety of topics and visually representing and communicating book themes in an graphic format. Students will be adding music and voice recording to some of them as well. In addition, some classes will be creating digital book trailers. All projects should be available for online viewing later in the month.
8th graders will begin researching many constitutional issues for their Classroom-Based Assessment (CBA) beginning later this month. Students will need to use our online Databases, online CBA Resources and Citation Tools for their research.
I will be teaching Mrs. Daniel’s 6th graders to make books. Her students will be making parts of speech books this month, too!
